Original version

Single on Decca May 1966 by Coventry band billed as The Sensations Of London in the US where there was already a well-known group called The Sensations (Let Me In, 1962, #4 USA).

They formed in 1964 as The Pines, and were later known as The Little Darlings before becoming The Sensations then finally The Good Time Losers.

At the time of this release, The Sensations were guitarists Al Waites, Colin Delaney, and Terry Twigger (real name Terry Wyatt, also on harmonica), with drummer Barry Eaton and pianist Malcolm O’Sullivan. Other personnel came and went during the band’s history.

The writers
Both sides of this Sensations single were written and produced by John Carter (born Shakespeare) and Ken Lewis (born Hawker).

Carter and Lewis had been partners in songwriting and performing since the end of the 50s. With Perry Ford, they recorded as The Ivy League from 1965 (Tossing And Turning, 1965, #3 UK and others). Later they were involved, for example, in The Flowerpot Men (Let’s Go To San Francisco, 1967, #4 UK), White Plains (Julie Do Ya Love Me, 1970, #8 UK, and others) and First Class (Beach Baby, 1974, #14 UK).

With an almost military precision, Coventry group The Sensations are mounting a strategic record bombardment of the Top Twenty. It will be a smooth operation. The weapons are a batch of new songs from Birmingham’s John Carter and Ken Lewis, the Ivy League writing team.
