Renée Geyer (1953-2023) was a versatile Sydney soul/jazz/blues singer active from the early 1970s, working in Australia and America. See, for example, her career outline at Howlspace [archived].

Heading In The Right Direction was written by prolific Adelaide-born songwriter Garry Paige with his regular collaborator Mark Punch, a member of the Renee Geyer Band, formerly of The Johnny Rocco Band.

Another well-known Paige-Punch composition is Words Are Not Enough, a hit for Jon English (1978). See Jonathan Sturm’s outline of Garry Paige’s career which has also included collaborations with Ray Burton (The Executives), country star Anne Kirkpatrick, and David Briggs (Little River Band).

Thanks to Tim Paige.
