Dove - The Lion Sleeps Tonight (1976)

Australia Australia
#9 Adelaide

Single on Image by Melbourne group who released at least twelve singles and three albums 1973-76.

After Dove, lead singer Sharyn Cambridge sang on a 1978 EMI single by Cambridge And Thomas, You Take My Breath Away. She later formed her own band which seems to have evolved into The Colin Who Band with her songwriting partner and guitarist Colin Wright YouTube

See Love MachineThe Lion Sleeps Tonight for the history of this much-recorded song.

Other charting singles by Dove:
• It Might As Well Rain Until September 1973 (#31 Melbourne) 1962 Carole King hit, Goffin-King composition;
• Magic To Do 1974 (#36 Melbourne) from Pippin;
• Amazing Grace 1974 (#7 Melbourne, #2 Adelaide) 18th century hymn;
• Long Live Love 1975 (#22 Adelaide) band original (not the 1965 Sandie Shaw hit).
